I finally finished sewing bags for my Skeksis chicks to safely travel in. These babies will be ready in the next few weeks for adoption. I plan to only make 12, so once they’re gone, thats it. Off to the next creation!

OOAK Baby Skeksis

12/5/2017

Comments

Hello everyone!

I wanted to share something new that I am working on.  Pretty excited to share my little OOAK baby Skeksis doll with you guys. I have never made this kind of a creatures before so it's taken me forever to figure how I like making these things. He will eventually be lightly-adorned with jewelry when I figure out what I want to make for him.

Inspired by the Dark Crystal. I love making weird little bird-like creatures; Jim Henson and the Frouds are hugely inspirational to me. I plan on making more of these little babies and have them up for adoption on my Etsy in the next few months. (Preferably after the holidays.) If you're local though, I will have a few of them for sale at FaerieCon in Seattle, Feb 16th-18th. His grumpy face and round, fluffy body makes me smile. I hope you guys love him as much as I do!

I will keep you all posted on my Instagram for more updates. Follow me here: CreaturesGrimm or CassandraMelena

Process pictures can be the worst!
Finally after many years of silly fears of not being able to sculpt again, I pull this little baby out of no where. I really should keep at it.  Your skills can only improve not worsen. Anyway, here are some pictures of my little baby Skeksis in the making.  He will be a kind of OOAK doll with fur and some shiny accessories to bring out his adorable little face.  Check back for updates on this guy, I may make a limited of them to add to my Etsy shop in the near future.

Unpainted Petyr Rabbit for Sale!

⏀✴︎☾☽* Petyr's details *⏀✴︎☾☽

▼ This is a white, solid cast 8 3/4" tall unpainted urethane figure.

▼ Some sanding of the seams are required, once all of the sanding/finishing is complete and you have washed or wiped the Bunny's surface, lay down a coat of spray primer before painting. Spray primer or automotive primer can be found at hardware stores in the paint department as well as craft shops. This will help paint stick to the surface of the Bunny. You can usually buy primer in black, grey or white to provide an appropriate color base to work off of. You can then use a variety of techniques to paint the Bunny - craft acrylic works well, airbrushed or even spray paints can also work depending on the design you want. Once the paint is complete, allow it to dry and then hit the Bunny with a few coats of clear acrylic spray- you can use gloss, matte or satin finish! And, voíla! Your Bunny is done and you can display him in whatever you like, he would even look great inside a tall glass cloche!

▼ The original sculpture of this Bunny was made with Sculpey, then molded in a silicone mold and casted in a urethane. I will have a limited amount of blanks and will retire the design once the blanks and painted versions are sold out.

He will be available unpainted on my Etsy shop, June 30th - Creatures Grimm

Test Painting Fiigz

12/1/2016

Comments

I've been test painting my stone goblin Fiigz this week, lots of trial and error but I think I'm getting happy with some variations.  The first pic you see here have some layering stages but I wanted to give some dept to them, add rust, patina and even some gold flux.  The lighting in my studio is terrible for photos but I will try and take some better shots once the painting is completed.
