I've been test painting my stone goblin Fiigz this week, lots of trial and error but I think I'm getting happy with some variations. The first pic you see here have some layering stages but I wanted to give some dept to them, add rust, patina and even some gold flux. The lighting in my studio is terrible for photos but I will try and take some better shots once the painting is completed.
Today I've been busy casting my little stone goblins in prep to add some to my shop. I'm not sure how many I will do but for now I'm casting like a mad-woman!
Working on something fun to hang on your wall, and hopefully I can finish him this weekend so I can mold and cast a few of these before the holidays.
My neighbor came over last week and asked me what I was doing. I happened to be in the middle of casting a set of large ram horns and explained how hand roto-casting works. He found the process labor intensive, which it is, and asked if there was a better way. I said the only way I knew of was to buy can an expensive roto-cast machine. He pondered this and disappeared.
Fast forward several days and Neighbor Man (because he has super powers) drives up to my studio with a contraption in the back of his truck. He had designed and built a hand-crank roto-cast apparatus for me over the weekend. He made it just because he wanted to. How sweet and amazing my neighbors are! #sfx #rotocasting #silicone #resin #horns #props #neighbors #machines So I decided to make my own paint brushes. I present to you, my first prototype, in the tradition of handmade Japanese calligraphy brushes.
Updating some old rushed paint jobs I did on my bird masks. I’m happier with how this one looks now. Here's a before and after pic of how this turned out.
I’m sculpting some ram horns to sell as head pieces on my Creatures Grimm Etsy shop. Once these bad boys are done I will soon mold and paint them. I may end up leaving some blank so people can paint them to whatever color they choose. In a few weeks, the Etsy shop will be open for all to see. But for now, check us out on Facebook for updates on whats to come. This is for a Valentine’s Day themed group art show called Hearts on Fire, held at The Sake Bomb in Downtown St.Petersburg Florida. If you’re in the area, come check out all the amazing work from our talented locals!
